    19 Procom is designed to put control of your communications back in your own hands. The applications are portable so they run on any device you like. Procom is open source, so you can expect better security and less restrictions on how you and your partners call and text.

    24 You mean that if a friend uses Android but I have a different phone, that we can still use the same application?

    27 Indeed! You can both install the same one or use your favorite applications even if they're different.

    32 Many companies make it difficult for you to communicate, just so that they can lock you into their closed networks.

    37 Such applications may be available across a few platforms, but they neglect your freedom and security. In some cases they block your calls from family members using standard technology. In other cases the service restricts or manipulates you.

    40 In fact, that's how many companies make their money. By convincing you to use so called free software and then helping themselves to personal data from you and your calling partners.

    45 That's too bad! Now I know why I couldn't send a message using Skype to my boss who uses Whats App. Aren't there any call or text applications that work better than that?

    50 There are some good applications, but most fail to adopt open web technology as well as letting you be your own host. Applications using procom can either work with a service provider of your choice or connect to your own network if you know how to host it yourself. And best of all procom is built right from the start with Web RTC.

    63 Thanks for informing me about procom. I'll look for applications using procom in my favorite software store or market. Like the Firefox marketplace or the five apps project.
